A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Sam. I wear a lot of different, but related, professional hats at the moment: Therapeutic Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, Facilitator and Researcher.

Before this, my career was in Learning and Development and I have developed a bit of a fascination about personal and professional development. The decision to formally add a research element to my practice is to combine the two - the personal and professional development of counsellor and clinical supervisors.

What am I studying and why?

I am located (remotely) at the University of Chester on their Professional Doctorate in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Psychological Trauma. There is a focus on social justice and that is what drew me to the course, because unfairness is my sore spot. It's a brilliant course and I'm so fortunate to be working alongside some incredible and inspiring people.

Why a blog?

I am a bit of a quiet processor. I have a busy brain that is rarely quiet so these blogs are an attempt to capture some of my quiet process - if I tried to catch it all, I would never get any work done! - before it is lost or generalised.

If you've happened across it and my dips and joys resonate, then even better.
